Discover the divine journey of Bhagvan Shree Swaminarayan and the establishment of our sacred traditions
Bhagvan Shree Swaminarayan was born in Chhapaiya, a small village near Ayodhya in North India. His devotees believe He is an incarnation of Sri Krishna.
After mastering the scriptures at a young age, He embarked on a remarkable seven-year spiritual journey, traversing through Nepal and across Eastern and Southern India, showcasing extraordinary dedication to spiritual enlightenment.
Having gained widespread recognition and countless followers, He began establishing the foundations of what would become the Swaminarayan religion. His divine presence and teachings attracted devotees from all walks of life.
To ensure the continuation of His teachings, He located His brothers from North India and adopted their sons, strategically assigning them the responsibility of propagating the religion in both Northern and Southern directions.
Throughout His travels from village to village, He blessed His followers by giving away His personal belongings as 'prasadi' - sacred items that have been carefully preserved and passed down through generations across hundreds of families.
After six generations of spiritual leadership, H.H. Shree TejendraPrasadji Maharaj conceived the vision of establishing a museum to house Bhagvan Shree Swaminarayan's personal belongings and memorabilia. Taking voluntary retirement and dedicating the proceeds from His 60th birthday celebrations, He initiated this magnificent project to preserve these divine artifacts for generations to come.
“A sacred repository of divine memories”
H.H. Shree TejendraPrasadji Maharaj's profound vision was to create more than just a museum - it was to establish a sacred space that would house the divine memories of Bhagvan Shree Swaminarayan. This includes precious artifacts that have been preserved through generations, most notably handwritten scripts by Bhagwan Shree Himself, and numerous personal belongings given as 'prasadi' to devoted followers.
To realize this dream, He took the extraordinary step of voluntary retirement from His esteemed position, passing the leadership to His son. His dedication was further exemplified when He agreed to celebrate His 60th birthday on the condition that all donations and proceedings would be directed towards this sacred project, thus laying the foundation for this magnificent museum.
